New CORALadvantage^® Joint Health formula
A little over a year ago we upgraded our Joint Health formula to take advantage of some advanced medical practices coming out of Europe.  The results have been phenomenal.  The Vioxx^® debacle brought to light the problem with controlling the COX-2 inflammation factor without addressing 5-LOX and the cytokines.  When you block production of COX-2 its source material  arachadonic acid builds up and is used by the body to product more 5-LOX, which doesn't cause inflammation but destroys cartilage and damages your arteries.  The latter is why Vioxx users were dying.  The medical community in Europe have been treating arthritis for years with collections of drugs that address all of the inflammation factors rather than just COX-2 as is practiced in the U.S. and to we wondered if we could duplicate this common-sense approach with the herbal extracts in our Joint Health System.  Well, the boswellia serrata extract already in our formula is effective against 5-LOX, and by adding nettle leaf extract, ginger extract and soy isoflavones we were able to add effective coverage of the cytokines (IL-1 beta, TNF-alpha and IL-6).  We also increased the potency of the curcumin extract to the maximum 95% and bumped up the glucosamine HCl to 800mg, which is more glucosamine than you get with 1000mg of glucosamine sulfate and doesn't have the sulfate-calcium interaction problem common with sulfate versions.  The bottom line is that we are getting great customer feedback on the new formula.
